The Island Players has been dedicated to bringing live community theatre to
Coastal Georgia since 1956. The not for profit organization is an all
volunteer organization governed and managed by a Board of Directors and
receives funding from the Georgia Council for the Arts, corporate and
private donations, and membership subscription. Season offerings include
four mainstage productions which include two musicals all selected by ballot
of the members. Quarterly membership meetings also feature entertainment.
A six week Young People's Summer Workshop has attracted 80 to 100 young
people from ages 8 to 18 for over 27 years. Additional programs for youth
include the Island Players Teen Actors Guild (IPTAG) and a scholarship
program for dedicated students who meet high academic qualifications and
have made a significant contribution of their time and talent to the
theatre.
