Island
Players Teen Actors Guild
The Island
Players Teen Actors Guild (IPTAG) was originally started in the
summer of 1997. Several young teenagers who participated in the
Young Peoples Summer Workshop (YPSW) thought it would be fun for
the teenagers in the program to get together and prepare special
awards for all the participants and to perform at the Award
Ceremony. The tradition has continued each summer.
In the fall of 2000 the Board of Directors agreed to sponsor the
IPTAG program as a year-round program so teens of the community
who are interested in theatre would have an opportunity to learn
more about theatre both on stage and behind the scenes. Since
starting this program we have had an average of twenty young
students actively involved.
IPTAG members participate in Island Player productions both on
stage and behind the scenes. They are active in the Production
of YPSW serving both on the production crew as apprentices in
every capacity and also on stage. The have performed several of
their own shows as well. IPTAG members meet at least twice a
month; they conduct business as a member-governed board and host
guest speakers who teach them about many aspects of theatre.
Teens from
13 to 18 years old who are interested in the program should
contact The Island Players at 912-638-0338 and leave a message.
One of the adult advisors will return the call.
